Surfing

Bilgola Surf Breaks

Bilgola is a small bay offering more protection options than most of the wide open northern beaches. It is usually a little less crowded here too. The northern reef breaks work in NE swell, with best wind from the SW. The beach breaks work pretty much all the time, though swell will usually be a little smaller (and cleaner) than other places.
Beach faces SE, offshore wind for beach breaks is NW.

History

Name

Bilgola is from the Aboriginal Belgoula, meaning Swirling Waters.
