Description

Brighton Le Sands is a popular Botany Bay suburb 10km (6mi) South of Sydney, Australia. The beach along the suburb is known as Lady Robinson Beach.
It is a long sandy beach on the far west side of Botany Bay, extending from the mouth of Cooks river to the mouth of Georges River. Behind the beach at Brighton is a paved walking track and a busy road that has many cafes and restaurants.
Lady Robinson beach is a bay beach protected from ocean swell, but it is exposed and can become a bit choppy on windy days.

Name

The beach along Brighton was originally known as Seven Mile Beach. It was renamed Lady Robinson Beach after the wife of the governor of NSW around 1875.
Brighton Le Sands was originally named New Brighton, for the the sea side suburb Brighton in England. It was later renamed Brighton Le Sands so as not to be confused with the english version!

There is a Lifesaving Club at Brighton Le Sands. Beach is patrolled on weekends and public holidays.

Brighton Le Sands is well known for its range of quality restaurants and cafe's, most are on the road opposite the beach and have water views.

The beach at Brighton Le Sands is a popular alternative to Sydney's surf beaches for families and beach goers looking for safer swimming conditions. There is even a large shark net enclosed swimming area directly opposite the Brighton Pavilion.

Fishing in Botany Bay is not as good as it once was, but some fair catches can still be had. Fishing off the shore at Brighton is a little hit and miss, most fisherman go further North to the Cooks River Breakwall. Fish caught in this area include Flathead, Bream and Tailor.

Brighton is a popular stop over for Jet Ski riders. There is no boat ramp, but it is easy to park on the beach.
