Beach Accomodation

There are 4 cottages available as accomodation on the lighthouse grounds, two x one bedroom and two x three bedrooms. The three bedroom cottages have fireplaces. No kitchen facillities, though breakfast can be arranged if required.

There are many walks around the Cape, inlcuding short walk to Pulpit rock on the tip of the cape and longer walk along Bushrangers Bay.

Scuba Diving

Snorkeling and Scubadiving is possible off the calmer eastern side of the Cape.

Lighthouse

Cape Schank Lighthouse was built in 1859, the 2nd lighthouse to be built in Victoria.

Geography

Cape Schanck is a scenic headland on the ocean side of Mornington Peninsula, the southernmost point of the landmass. It is a dramatic coastline, popular with sightseers and walkers. Cape Schanck lighthouse, built in 1859 is a feature of the area. There is no sandy beach in the area.

Name

Cape Schanck was named after English Navy Captain Schanck, who is famous for designing the raised centre board keel used to explore shallow waters. A boat with this designe, the Lady Nelson, explored this area in the early 1800's
