Description

Mornington Beach is situated in a small, scenic cove on the eastern side of Port Phillip Bay, 57km south of Melbourne. It is a sandy beach around 400m long, next to a marina and pier that is popular with fisherman.

Name

Mornington was probably named for the 2nd Earl of Mornington, Richard Wellesley, who served as Governor-General of India, by Surveyor-General Andrew Clarke in the 1850's

Fishing from the pier is popular.
There is a concrete boat ramp at the marina you can launch from.
