History

Mawson, a local business man was involved in a venture to develop the local area. A mining project he worked on resulted in the Spoon Rocks breakwall, originally constructed to load coal onto ships.
Interestingly, Caves Beach was briefly renamed to Mawson Beach, until local objections prevailed and the change was rescinded.
