The Spit - Gold Coast

The Spit or Southport Spit is a narrow stretch of water surrounded land at the north end of Main Beach, seperated from South Stradbroke Island by the Gold Coast Seaway. Main Beach is in the northern part of Queenslands Gold Coast and is a four kilometre stretch of golden sand above Surfers Paradise beach. Features at the Spit Beach include a breakwall and a sand pumping pier, both important parts of the Gold Coast Seaway. The beach is popular with sunbathers, surfers, jetskiers and fisherman.
